If you thought obsessions with aliens were weird, this next cult will be a jaw-dropper. In Japan, a man by the name of Hogen Fukunaga decided to start a cult by saying that he was the reincarnation of Jesus and Buddha at the same time. And, surprise! He had a magical gift.
In the Ho No Hana Sanpogyo cult, Fukunaga was able to see a person’s entire livelihood and health by simply looking at their feet. He also claimed he could heal maladies through a person’s feet.
Of course, like any other deity, he had bills to pay. He charged $900 per treatment, with some of his followers paying over $1 million to have their feet fixed by him. Eventually, his followers got wise to the scam and sued him for the money he was taking. Just like that, his time of playing Happy Feet came to an end.
