“One day it started raining, and it didn’t quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin’ rain… and big ol’ fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. Shoot, it even rained at night…”

While describing the war, Forrest talks about the great four month rain of Vietnam, he is not aware of the typhoon seasons that asian countries experience but what he describes is a pretty normal and natural occurrence in countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and others.
Before Jenny dies, she asks Forrest what it was like in Vietnam. He responds by saying that it was nice, and when it stopped raining, it would be quiet and peaceful.
