Apparently if you attended Robbinsdale High School in Minnesota, there was a good chance you were going to become a wrestling legend in the 80s! This is where Richard Erwin Rude aka “Ravishing” Rick Rude attended high school alongside Tom Zenk, Brady Boone, Nikita Koloff, Curt Hennig, John Nord, and Barry Darsow, all of whom later became professional wrestlers. One of the biggest breakout stars of this bunch though was Rick Rude who began his wrestling career in 1982, he technically retired in 1994 but never really gave up the passion with a return to the arena in 1997.

He was an all around heavyweight champion in almost every federation and headlined several challenges and championship events during his career. He has been the only person to appear on WWF’s Raw and WCW’s Monday Nitro program on the same night and has been said to be one of the greatest technical wrestlers of his era. After retiring he managed multiple wrestlers and dedicated his time to his family. Rude was a devoted family man who never took his wedding ring off even during matches but instead he covered it up with tape.

His death was extremely unfortunate as he was found unconscious by his wife and died at the age of 40, after having a heart failure. He was survived by his wife, Michelle, and their three children. An autopsy report showed he died from an overdose of “mixed medications”.
