Charles “the Mad” VI became the Mad King long before the Targaryens graced our television screens. He suffered from immense psychosis all through his 42 year reign, and frequently went through episodes where he would forget his own name and title, attack and kill his own knights, and run through the castle howling at people because he thought he was a wolf. When he wasn’t thinking he was a wolf, he would lose all sense of control when people touched him, because he believed he was made of glass and would instantly break. Relatable? Maybe. But probably not the ruler the French needed during the Hundred Years’ War.
