When the CDC first spotted Zika virus in Florida, they went into an uproar. This virus isn’t lethal to adults or children, but it is extremely dangerous to women who want to give healthy offspring. Zika is one of the few viruses out there to cause birth defects in children— some of which are lethal.
Some of the birth defects include microcephaly and neurological problems. Eight percent of infected babies will die shortly after birth as a result of their birth defects.
